Die Produktion von Raupenschleppern für die Landwirtschaft wurde 2002 von Caterpillar aufgegeben und mit dem Markennamen Challenger an den AGCO-Konzern verkauft.

AGCO baute anfangs viele der bisherigen Modelle von Caterpillar weiter. 2003 wurde dann die MT-Baureihe vorgestellt.

Neben Raupentraktoren fertigt Challenger inzwischen auch gewöhnliche Traktoren, selbstfahrende Feldspritzen und das Systemfahrzeug Terra Gator.
